We made it!

This was my first One Room Challenge and let me tell ya, it did not disappoint! There were a lot of wins, lots of learning opportunities, and a few challenges (I’m looking at you COVID!). I’m still technically COVID positive as I type this so I will for sure be coming back to this post later for a thorough update. In the meantime…..

Where it all started:

Overalls | Shoes

And here she is today:

The Paint Colors

I sprayed the cabinets in Farrow & Ball Hague Blue color matched to Benjamin Moore Advance paint in Satin finish. The fluted and rope molding were hand painted Farrow and Ball Calke Green color matched to Benjamin Moore Advance paint in Satin. The remaining green on the walls is the same color but in Benjamin Moore Aura in Eggshell finish so there is some contrast. The ceiling is Benjamin Moore White Dove in their mold resistant Kitchen & Bath paint in a flat finish. The scallop table in the toilet area is Farrow and Ball Sulking Room Pink color matched in Benjamin Moore Advance paint in Satin finish.

The Wallpaper

The main area of the bathroom is the classic William Mooris Pimpernel Wallpaper but what I love about it is this Sunflower colorway! You don’t see it very often so it brings as unique feel to a classic pattern. The toilet area is Rifle Paper Wildwood in Navy. And believe it or not, the beadboard in the back of the open cabinet is wallpaper! It was painted the same green as the walls.

The Molding

I loved the idea of wallpapering the main area of the bathroom but I didn’t want to put it around the tub. So a chair rail was the best solution and I love how it turned out! I didn’t want a traditional pattern so I walked the aisles of Home Depot and came up with the fluted and rope pieces.

The Hardware

I’m a big fan of mixing metals! The dominate metal is Unlacquered Brass which I am super excited to see patina over time. The supporting cast members are the black in the sconces and window hardware and the antique Nickel in the mirror and in the bathtub faucet.

The Rugs

We like having rugs at the foot of each sink and then we also needed a bath matt for the tub and shower. The scallops of the bath mat tie in beautifully to the table in the toilet area while the solid white brings a bit of relief. The rugs are the perfect subtle geometric pattern and the slightly faded blue is perfect next to the richer blue of the cabinets.

Seating

This Facebook Marketplace chair was given new life with a new fabric cushion. I adore all things Josef Frank and this fabric brings quite literally ALL the colors in the bathroom together in one small piece of fabric.

The Lighting

The harsh can light in the toilet area was replaced with a can converter and a regular flushmount light fixture on a dimmer switch. We had already changed out the wall sconces on either side of the mirrors and the chandelier above the tub so those stayed as is. And one light was removed! The “boob light” was replaced with regular ceiling fan since we really didn’t need another layer of light! It made a HUGE difference to paint the cans in the main area the same color as the ceiling. They blend seamlessly now! All light switch covers are in unlacquered brass.

The Table

All I needed was some scallop trim from Etsy and a quart of paint and this table was given brand new life!
